August 2019:
is the first chamber in Canada to officially adopt the Women's Empowerment Principles, WEPS. The WEPS were introduced by UN Global Compact and UN Women to provide business a framework to empower women in the workplace, marketplace, and community. The London Chamber was an early supporter of the WEPs and recently took the step to formally register as an organization supporting Women's Economic Empowerment on the UN Women - EmpowerWomen.org platform. CEO Gerry Macartney indicated as part of the Chamber's ongoing efforts to recognize diversity the Women's Empowerment Principles have now been added as a companion piece to their Diversity Policy. He further states, "equality means business" has never been more true or relevant in today's environment, and the business case for WEPs is quickly building and gaining Traction."
